Northern Traverse
This was the best hike I have done in the berg so far. An incredible route. I have been hiking with Geoff for a few years now and I am always happy with the way he plans the routes and how professional he is. Geoff is a great guide to hike with and is extremely knowledgeable in the mountains. I particularly like the fact that he only takes small groups which keeps things more intimate. I am looking forward to joining him on his next hike in June this year.

Northern Traverse with Geoff (Into The Berg)
I recently did the Northern Travers with Into The Berg. I was very excited and curious about this trail and it exceded all my expectations. From the very start, Geoff showed his passion for the mountains, the flora and fauna, which was truly contagious. His deep knowledge and skills are obvious. What also sets him apart is how he adapts the hike to the level and needs of the group. He is incredibly considerate and always attentive, creating a relaxed and confident environment on the trail.

He led us to some of the most beautiful places in the Drakensberg, sharing stories and insights that showed just how experienced and connected he is to the area and its people. It’s clear that he doesn’t just guide hikes here, he genuinely loves the Drakensberg and his work.

My experience in the Drakensberg was pretty unique and unforgettable. Which makes me deeply grateful for an organisation like Into The Berg.

Mountain Grandeur
Geoff Brown of Into the Berg led my family on the most spectacular hiking experience I've had. The mountains and passes, cliffs and crags, icy rivers and icy waterfalls, grassy contour paths, forest meanders, Cape Vultures, Bearded Vultures and Verreaux's Eagle all spoke of the grandeur of the Drakensberg and of the Creator.

Geoff guided us and looked after us excellently. He helped us in our preparations and planned our hike perfectly. Geoff prepared a delicious hot meal every night (thanks to Trailfood). He is knowledgeable about the Berg having grown up hiking there and having taken many many groups hiking.

We'll definitely be hiking with Into the Berg again and highly recommend anyone looking for a guide to contact Geoff.

Incredible Hikes with Into the Berg!
I had two amazing hikes with Geoff!

He is extremely knowledgeable about the Berg and can explain everything and anything about what goes on there. He knows all the different trails and passes and caves. His safety standards are excellent.

One thing that is noteworthy is his commitment to respecting the rules of the reserve. He strictly prohibits fires and littering even to the point of carrying 2-3 kgs of litter in his pack.

He takes incredible care of his guests and ensures their comfort throughout. He even carried someone's whole pack up one day of hiking in addition to his own pack. Truly impressive strength.

All in all a 10 out of 10 experience for me.

Another fantastic Into The Berg experience
I’ve just completed my second hike with Geoff, and I can confidently say I won’t be using any other guide for hiking in the Berg. Geoff’s attention to detail, from preparation to execution, is exceptional. His deep knowledge of the area, combined with his ability to cater to each individual's needs, including dietary preferences, makes the experience both enjoyable and seamless. Safety is always his top priority—he never takes unnecessary risks, but still manages to ensure each hike is challenging and rewarding. The sense of accomplishment and thrill after completing one of his hikes is unmatched.

The website is also very well organized, providing detailed info on the various routes, so you know exactly what to expect before heading out. Whether you're hiking solo or with a group, I highly recommend to join him for an unforgettable and well-guided experience IntoThe Berg!
